Paralympic games is the second largest world sport contest, competition of the elite of Paralympic sport, a punch line in the careers of para athletes and Paralympic movement activists. These are the high profile competition for athletes with disabilities chosen at the national, multinational and world contests.

Paralympic games start in about two weeks after the end of the Olympic games and are held in the same city and in the same sport objects.

In 2014 Russia will organize this international contest for the first time – XI Paralympic winter games will be held from 7 to 16, March in Sochi. Sport program includes 5 sport events, 70 medal sets will be distributed and more than 700 athletes from 45 countries will participate. Paralympic games in Sochi will leave mark in the history of Paralympic movement and will contribute to the integration of people with disabilities into society. The main heritage of the Games is development of the barrier-free environment and attitude change in Russia to people with disabilities.
